ELVD Updates

Dear Residents, As summer is approaching, the board would like to take this opportunity to give some updates and reminders.

BEACHES

Please be respectful and mindful, keeping our beaches clean of trash and dog waste (dog waste stations are available at Meetinghouse Beach, and Burnham Park, please utilize these). Additionally, trash barrels are provided at our beaches and cleaned out by a volunteer. Today Melissa Taber and Commissioner Auger cleaned the beach toys, they are now prepped and ready to use at Emerald (mailbox) Beach and Meetinghouse (Dog) beach. Please put back when done using, baskets at Emerald Beach and wood storage box at Meetinghouse beach.

Commissioner Taber and a volunteer deployed the rafts to enjoy this holiday weekend and throughout the summer season. Porta potties are now on site at 3 of our beaches and freshly cleaned. Friendly reminder, Fireworks are not allowed on any ELVD beaches or parks. Feel free to use fireworks on your own private property. ELVD Beaches are for residents ONLY.

The board is aware of the beach erosion affecting Meetinghouse and Hummingbird Beach. A permit was recently approved by the state for a fix on Hummingbird Beach and a permit will soon be submitted for a fix for Meetinghouse Beach.

CONSUMER CONFIDENCE REPORT

A district wide, state mandated mailing, was completed today and all residents will soon receive it. Included in the consumer confidence report is a questionnaire on the “Toilet Flapper” program/approved as a Source water capacity grant.

Thank you to all who participated in helping to complete this mailing, from making 14 pages of copies and 2+ hours of envelope stuffing. By completing this work ourselves we saved the district taxpayers an excess of $800.

Thank you,
Commissioner Taber, Commissioner Auger, Treasurer Carlyn Renken, Residents, Melissa Taber, and Don Johnson.

SOURCE WATER CAPACITY GRANT

Inside the recent mailing, residents will find the questionnaire pictured above for any residents interested in participating in the “Toilet Flapper” program. This comes at no cost to you or the district, it is fully reimbursable by an approved grant through NH DES. This program will be on a first come, first serve basis so please fill out the form and submit as soon as possible if interested.

    IMPORTANT REMINDER

    Dear Residents

This is an important reminder that we are still in an outdoor water ban. This means NO outdoor water use:

  • No watering with sprinklers of any type, No watering with hose nozzles of any type, No watering of lawns in any way, No watering of ornamental flowers or shrubbery, No washing of vehicles of any type, No pressure washing of any type, No filling of water cans or buckets larger than three (3) gallon capacity.
  • Exceptions include: Fruits, vegetables, and herbs may be watered using a hand-held watering can or bucket, Washing/bathing of domesticated household animals is permitted and Livestock, fowl, farm animals, etc. may be watered using buckets only.

A $250 fine + any other expenses will occur for first offense.

Money spent on trucking in water:

    2023: More than $72,000
    2022: More than $115,000
    2021: More than $47,000
    2020: More than $152,000

We must be able to meet the high demand of water use (such as 4th of July weekend) all year long before the state will clear us of our Source Water Capacity violation (in place since 2019). We are not trucking in water so select residents can sneak outdoor water use, but so that we can all live day to day life. Until such time our wells are able to sustain enough water for all residents, all year long, we will remain in an outdoor water ban.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,
    Board of Commissioners
