Prepare For Extreme Cold

Posted 1/31/23

As we approach this coming weekend, extreme cold temperatures are expected. The ELVD Board of Commissioners and Aquamen Water Solutions are asking you to take some time to go through your home.

If you know of any vacant homes near you, please let the Board know so we can make sure these homes are shut off at the curb stop. Check for any exposed lines around your home/yard. If you notice anything that may require attention, please take care of it or reach out to us. We would like to make sure any areas of concern are taken care of as soon as possible.

20 degrees will freeze your pipes.

- Check to make sure your heat tape is installed, plugged in, and in working order.
- Any exposed pipes should be covered and insulated.
- Garden hoses unhooked.
- Check your water heater.
- Let faucets drip, if needed, to prevent freezing pipes.
- Check to make sure skirting is installed properly.
- Crack cabinets and/or doors if needed, to allow heat to reach pipes.

Doing a home check could save homes and ELVD from any water loss, as well as possible fines. Aquamen is striving to make sure all trouble reports are evaluated and serviced as quickly as possible.

Thank you…and stay warm!
